Ride the Wave - Maureen

When life gives you waves, you just gotta ride 'em! Maureen was commissioned to create an ocean-themed piece with waves and the sentiment, "Ride the Wave" - and she delivered! She got in touch with us to create a wave chipboard because she was going for a specific "gnarly" look and, as it turns out, there isn't a whole lot out there in the chipboard world. 

After some trial and error, we came up with the new Stackable Waves set, available now on our website. Like so many of our pieces this set offers complete customization and loads of versatility, as you can spread it out for just a little splash or build it up into something more intense, like you can see here. 

Maureen started on a wooden base that she primed with gesso and added texture paste using the "Dolphins"stencil by TCW. She began adding shades of blue acrylic paint and then assembled her wave on the canvas. For some foamy texture she added Art Stones and mini art stones until she got that rough seas feeling her customer was going for. 

Lastly, she added the sentiment, "Ride the Wave". Maureen used stickers sealed on cardstock and placed on chipboard as well as our Waves chipboard from the Beach Words set, which she cut the "s" off of and heat embossed in white to complete the canvas.
