Create! - Maureen

Texture, interest and chipboard - oh my! Maureen really stretched her imagination on this fun piece that she created for her studio to remind her to "play" - and play she did! Bursting with embellishments and a wide range of media, this piece makes us want to do the same.

She began with a base of corrugated cardboard from some old packaging and some "dead" paintbrushes - you know those brushes that are gunky and full of dried media, from paints and gel medium and everything between?  (can you spot 'em in the background?)

Maureen layered up the brushes & added texture with Ranger Crackle Paste. Next she added Ken Oliver Liquid Watercolor in turquoise and watered down blue and violet acrylic paints for depth. She began adding paper and silk flowers, art stones & an array of our chip boards that she altered in a several different ways to tuck in and around the focal point.

Maureen cut our Circle Cluster  and split it to place in the upper left and bottom right corners - she left it natural. With our Tropical Leaves, she added a layer of acrylic paint and tucked the pieces randomly into the spray of flowers. She cut apart our Cog Border and embossed the cogs to add interest throughout the focal point and embossed a couple from our Fancy Butterlies Set to add. As part of the focal point she primed and painted an Industrial Lightbulb, topped with some of her own sentiments & finished off the piece with the Create chipboard, a custom piece, which she embossed in white and teal powders.

Maureen says of this piece, "It's the craziest I've ever done, but it was such a good time and inspired me to take my bold ideas and run with them!"
