Lovebirds - Maureen

Sometimes our designers surprise us with something so sweet and simple - Maureen definitely did that with this piece, featuring our Love Birds Border and Birds on a Branch chip boards!

To start off her project, Maureen chose a wooden heart base and painted it with Deco Art acrylics. She began with a base of Spa Blue and used a brayer to add distressed layers of tan and hints of coral. Because the chipboards are the main focal point of this piece, she focused on adding the details to them directly.

Maureen split the Birds on a Branch so it could be used at the top and bottom to balance the project. Next she primed the pieces with white gesso and painted them with acrylics to bring them to life. To bring in the warm tones of the base, Maureen chose to make the branches feel like Autumn, with orange and golden leaves and beautiful blue birds perched on high. For the border, she chose to make the word "love" pop by painting it in layers of metallic gold and glitter gold acrylics, 3 layers each.

While many people use our chipboards to embellish a focal point, we absolutely love seeing when they are turned into the art themselves.
